Be prepared in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Participants learn infant CPR through classroom work and skills demonstrations in this one-time class taught by an American Red Cross-certified instructor. Class is not limited to expectant parents only - many grandparents and caregivers have benefited from the instruction, as well. Our two-hour class focuses solely on infant CPR – to obtain certification in infant CPR and infant first aid, full-day courses are available through the American Red Cross. Class is for pregnant families and those with babies up to 12 months old. Babies in arms (non-crawlers) are welcome. Class fee includes mom and partner. If an additional caregiver would like to attend, the cost is $25. Please call the office at 734.973.1014.

Our 1.5 hour private class focuses solely on infant CPR – to obtain certification in infant CPR and infant first aid, full-day courses are available through the American Red Cross. Class is for pregnant families and those with babies up to 12 months old. Babies in arms (non-crawlers) are welcome. Contact the office at 734.973.1014 to schedule a private class with the instructor for a mutually beneficial time and date. Private class fee of $85 includes mom and partner. If you would like to include additional caregivers/adults in the private class setting, the fee is $25 per adult.
Becoming Brothers and Sisters

Help siblings-to-be feel special about their new role! Our one-time class for children (ages two years and above) and their expecting parent/s teaches swaddling, diapering, and handling a newborn with the use of life-like dolls. Children receive a certificate of completion and a big brother/sister button to wear to the hospital when they meet their new sibling. Please note that if you are attending a class at UM, all children under the age of 16 must undergo a Health Screening (for Communicable Disease) at a Mott Hospital Security Screener Desk (2nd level) each day prior to visiting the Birth Center. Please allow a few minutes before your class begins to complete the screening. Parent Toddler Playgroup

Our small, intimate parent toddler play groups meet once/week for seven weeks. This is a unique opportunity for children (12 to 36 months) and their special adult to spend quality time together playing, working on simple art projects and having a snack. Our teachers spend time each week planning their age appropriate lessons to meet the needs and interests of the children.
Toddlers with older siblings (up to kindergarten age) are also welcome
to join a group as space allows (call the Lamaze office to register for 2 children.
Second child fee is discounted 25%).

Beginner Parent-Child Play Classes – Ever wonder what your baby’s trying to tell you? Give your child the gift of powerful early communication with Signing Smart for hearing infants and toddlers (6 months-2 years). Learn family-friendly American Sign Language (ASL) signs through engaging activities and songs. Research-proven strategies help you sprinkle signs into everyday life, making signing easy, fun, and successful! Fall session meets for 10 weeks. Additional family members at class: The more people in your child’s life that sign with him/her, the better. We welcome additional family members to class, as space is available. Older siblings are invited to be helpers, and must be prepared to interact appropriately with the enrolled infants and toddlers. Additional adult or older sibling attendance is at the discretion of the instructor. Multiples/sibling discount: To enroll more than one child in your family ages 6 months-2 years, please call the office to register (734) 973-1014. With the registration of the first child, each additional child receives a $50 discount off the cost of the class.

Intermediate Parent-Child Play Classes - Your hearing toddler is ready for the “next level” with both signing and speaking! Interactive songs and play promote linguistic and cognitive development as we learn about vehicles, people, places, colors, emotions, and much more. Discover how to use ASL signs as a powerful tool for long-term learning. Fall session meets for 10 weeks. Prerequisite: Signing Smart beginner class.

Introduce your toddler to all things creepy, crawly and
squirmy. Little Scientist is a
fun and educational way to spend time outdoors in Lillie Park. We will explore Turtle
Pond, the woods, and learn about reptiles and amphibians, as well as bugs and
worms.
In our Touch, Feel & Get Messy Art Class, children ages 18 months -3 years will explore and create using different art medians, including finger paint, watercolors, sticky paper and play dough. Your child will love experiencing different textures and colors, and each class will include circle time, songs, and interactive finger plays and movement.
