Breastfeeding

Our one day class covers the basics of breastfeeding plus information about pumping, life with a breastfeeding baby, nutrition, supplementation, how fathers/partners can help, and avoiding or managing problems such as sore nipples, engorgement, nipple confusion, and mastitis. Each couple will have an opportunity to practice various breastfeeding positions.

Breastfeeding Private Class

Fee: $85.00 [See Schedule]

This private session with a certified lactation consultant will give you information on the basics of getting off to a good start with breastfeeding, including latch on and positioning the baby at breast, how to tell the baby is getting enough and when to call for help. We will talk about some of the common problems and how to avoid them.

Mother's Groups

Fee: $92.00 [See Schedule]

Meet other new moms while learning songs, baby games, and basic infant movement with your infant. This eight-week series begins each session with interactive play, followed by group discussion on topics such as getting your baby to sleep, introducing solids, life with a newborn, and how to survive the challenges of being a mom. Many mothers find support and friendship here and continue these relationships outside of group time, as well.You can join the group at any time if the session has already begun.

Sex & Intimacy After Baby

Fee: $95.00 [See Schedule]

Balancing parenthood, intimacy and sexuality presents a unique set of challenges. Led by Ann Arbor sex therapist Kelly Grocoff, MSW, this group will help mothers gain knowledge, self-confidence and support related to postpartum sexuality and sexual functioning. Some topics that will be addressed include:

  • Physiological changes;
  • Post-pregnancy hormones and their affect on sexuality;
  • Work/life balance;
  • Body image/self-esteem; and
  • Relationship changes following the birth of a child.

The Postpartum Depression Support Group of the Greater Ann Arbor Area A grassroots support group facilitated by five volunteers who work with pregnant and parenting women. Our mission is to support women in their recovery from postpartum depression.

The good news is that postpartum depression and anxiety get better with treatment and support. You will feel better!

Women experiencing depression or anxiety symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum are invited to attend. Participants are welcome to bring their baby, partner, family member, or friend to the meeting.

Each meeting includes information on a topic related to recovery followed by open discussion. Topics include:

  • symptoms and feelings
  • self-care
  • support systems
  • myths of motherhood
